More than 50 dedicated volunteers showed Old Town some love by participating in the OTCTCA’s Annual Earth Day Neighborhood Clean Up on Saturday, April 22, 2017.

Despite the grey skies and the occasional downpour, these volunteers fueled up on fresh-from-the-oven bagels generously donated by Charlie’s Deli and hot coffee from Central City Concern, then spread out into the surrounding streets armed with buckets, brooms, and the ever popular litter grabbers.
Together they picked up over 3,900 pounds of trash. That’s the equivalent of two hippopotamuses!

This event was organized in partnership with SOLVE, Metro, and the City of Portland. The Old Town Chinatown Community Association is already planning another cleanup for the fall, as well as other ways we can beautify our neighborhood.

We want to give a shoutout to all who made the day a great success:

And a big thank you to everyone who came out to clean up and build community!

Thank you!
