On September 6, 2017 the Old Town Chinatown Community Association (OTCTCA) held two general community-wide meetings on the topic of a new 200-bed low-barrier shelter proposed by the Joint Office of Homeless Services to be sited at NW Hoyt and NW 3rd Avenue. The intent of the meetings was to seek community input about the shelter, as well as give the Joint Office the opportunity to present information about their plans and hear feedback from you.  In light of the strong community opinion, today the OTCTCA sent a letter to the Joint Office of Homeless Services, Mayor Ted Wheeler, and Multnomah Chair Deborah Kafoury strongly opposing the siting of the shelter in Old Town Chinatown. Please know that we will continue to work hard to ensure your voices are heard on this issue.
